Where prices come from.
How to widen the US view.

Direct price references for RTX 4090, RTX 5090 and RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell 96GB, with a practical plan for better national asking-price coverage.

The current sample is not a national price estimate. The published baseline has 12 screened 4090 asks, seven 5090 asks and no screened PRO 6000 Workstation asks. New reference sites below are research links; their offers and sale averages have not been added to the core median. eBay remains excluded.

Price references, with their evidence type

Use recent exact-card sale comparisons as context. Keep them separate from active asks, retail offers and community opinions.

Platform sale history + current asks

Jawa

Consumer GPUs

The 4090 and 5090 trackers show 85 sales each over 12 months at this check. The 5090 page includes collector editions. Use exact dated comps; historical averages are not today’s used price.

Seller-reported final prices + asks

HardwareSwap

Consumer + professional GPUs

Rules require actual sale-price edits. A 5090 Aorus Master ICE post explicitly reports $5,650 shipped against an original $5,750 shipped ask. A SOLD badge alone does not establish the negotiated amount.

Sale posts + community price checks

HomelabSales

RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell 96GB

Relevant workstation buyers and sellers. The older $7,000 shipped post marked SOLD proves source relevance, not a current national price or confirmed final $7,000 payment. Separate Workstation, Max-Q and Server Edition.

Active local asking prices + seller location

Facebook · Craigslist · OfferUp

Local availability

Keep direct listing evidence and observation times. Search appearances are not units in stock. Reposts and cross-posts require deduplication. OfferUp now supports local pickup only.

Additional active asking prices

Swappa

Consumer GPUs

Three checked 4090/5090 Recent Prices panels currently have no pricing data. Current listings can supplement asks after review; catalog presence is not completed-sale coverage.

New retail reference + price-check advice

Retail + community valuations

Separate context

PCPartPicker tracks retail price history; its current offers were not verified in this research. NVIDIA directs PRO 6000 buyers to its marketplace/partners. BuildAPC directs valuations to HardwareSwap Discord. None is automatically a used completed-sale price.

Where the screened asks are concentrated

RTX 4090: one source dominates

All 12 screened asks come from Facebook. They cover 10 seller states and six of nine divisions. New England, West North Central and Mountain have no screened sample.

RTX 5090: Northeast is missing

Five Facebook, one Craigslist and one OfferUp ask cover five seller states and four divisions. Neither Northeast division has a screened sample. Expanding other sources and regions matters more than repeatedly sampling the same hub.

A practical protocol for wider US asking prices

The following is our collection recommendation, applying Census geography and AAPOR disclosure principles to listing research. It is a saved plan, not a claim that national discovery is already running.

  1. Run the same exact and fallback queries in a fixed geography/source rotation. Inspect the actual seller state and card identity; query location and text matches are not identity evidence.
  2. Start with the nine divisions and 38 listed hubs, then rotate uncovered states and rural Craigslist areas. Alaska and Hawaii require their own checks. A city radius is not complete state coverage.
  3. Record source, query, city, supported radius, selected sort, pages/cards checked, UTC observation time, access failure and review disposition. Unknown/inaccessible results are not zero inventory.
  4. Collect broad active results plus newest results when the platform visibly supports them; do not select only low prices or promising thumbnails. Review all relevant offers where feasible; otherwise use a prespecified systematic or random selection within each discovered region/source cell and disclose that selection.
  5. Recheck known URLs daily and discover new offers daily using supported access. The current dashboard button only rechecks known offers; a new discovery service is not implemented by this report.
  6. Apply the existing explicit evidence review before admitting any ask. Keep ambiguous identity, parts-only, sold, sealed, auction, whole-PC, conditional trade and conflicting evidence outside the used core.
  7. Deduplicate stable source IDs, then review possible cross-posts using seller/location, actual-unit photos, description and distinguishing labels. Do not merge merely because model and price match.
  8. Keep each seller offer once. Preserve per-card asking amount versus bundle total; quantities and cross-platform hardware identity remain unknown unless evidenced.
  9. Report local pickup, shipped asking amount and known mandatory shipping/fees separately. Unknown shipping is not zero; sales tax depends on destination.
  10. Publish the listing-weighted observed median, middle 50 percent, counts, region/source cells and evidence freshness. Use one-day active asks and a separate recent-new-listing series; never mix these with 12-month sold averages.
  11. Compare source-only and region-only medians as sensitivity checks once cells have data. Do not manufacture population weights from general population or PC gamer shares; actual GPU listing shares are unknown.
  12. A non-probability marketplace sample cannot claim a national margin of error merely from sample size. More samples improve observed coverage, not a guaranteed national census or authenticity.
Two useful price views: the median of unique screened active asks available now, and the median initial ask of newly discovered listings in a recent window. Keeping both helps reveal persistent expensive listings without treating historical sales as current asks. No national weighting or confidence interval is justified by the present sample.

What makes collection more reliable

Supported discovery + regular checks

Native saved searches/alerts can help discover new offers. Craigslist emails are capped at 20 results and include some edited/reposted offers; OfferUp alerts can include related accessories. Alerts need exact-model review and cannot prove exhaustive coverage. Current dashboard refresh rechecks known URLs; it does not run these new regional searches.

Review prices without censoring the market

Do not discard a low ask simply because it is low. Hold suspicious offers for evidence review. Jawa publishes a platform price cap, so its observed distribution can differ from other markets. Preserve source-specific results and show how the median changes when a source or region is removed.

Planned geographic rotation: nine divisions, 38 starting hubs

Use a consistent search quota first, then prioritize gaps. Rotate uncovered states and rural areas as well. Cities and supported radii are discovery aids, not guarantees of state coverage. Alaska and Hawaii require independent passes. The suggested hubs below have not been newly searched by this update.
